Anyways, I know everyone doesn’t really care, or doesn’t understand what I’m going through, or just sees me as “overreacting” to the whole thing. But life would be so much easier, and less stressful if Rowan came to FSU with me. It’s not like FSU is a bad school, so I don’t understand. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal emotionally if he goes somewhere else.

     Here’s an update on school: it’s going well. My grades are good so far, my GPA should definately go up after this semester, and Alpha Chi Sigma is a lot of fun so far.

This is the last week of classes for the semester, and thank goodness for that! I’m ready for a break. Finals are next week, and if that didn’t stress me out enough, there’s a little event called the ACC Championship that’s thrown into the mix as well.

The College of Music here at Florida State puts on a series of Prism Concerts at the end of the fall semester every year.  The bands play (concert, symphonic, wind orchestra, etc.), multiple ensembles perform, various sections from the Marching Chiefs, as well as the Marching Chiefs themselves all perform over 3 nights, and 4 concerts total. The first one is Thursday night at 7:30pm- not bad. The second one is Friday night at 8:00pm. This is where it gets hectic…

Nine charter busses will pull up to the College of Music around 10:30pm this Friday night, all of Marching Chiefs will load them, and depart for Charlotte, North Caroline at 11:00pm. We will drive, and drive, and arrive in NC around dawn, where we will check into hotel room for the next eight hours to sleep, shower and eat for the day. We’ll check out that evening, and depart to the stadium for the ACC Championship game of FSU vs. Virginia Tech – kick-off at 7:30pm. With the game ending somewhere between 11:00pm-midnight, we’ll all load the busses again and make our way back to Tallahassee. After arriving around 7:00am Sunday morning, we will prepare for our two remaining Prism Concerts at 3:30pm and 7:00pm. The next day begins finals week.

Fortunately I don’t have my first final until Wednesday, but two days is not enough to prepare for Organic II, Calculus II, and History finals. I certainly hope I can survive this, making it out alive AND with good grades.

     Well, let me back up a little bit, I made Block List for Chiefs. That means, I passed my auditions, and marching evaluations to be allowed membership into the best marching band in the universe! YAY! I’m an alternator for Pre-Game, which is fine by me because Pre-Game is VERY tiring, and I get to march every half-time show, YAY AGAIN!!!

     My dorm room is the best, it’s coming together nicely even though I still have things to unpack. I love having a single with my own bathroom, it’s so much nicer!

     I bought my textbooks today. I’m kinda excited for Organic II Lab, I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun! I had to buy a REAL book for it too, not just a lab notebook. Hopefully I’ll do well, I could really use a bunch of A’s this semester- my GPA needs it

I’m kind of indifferent about moving up to college this time around. I’m really looking forward to my single room, and the fact that three of my friends from the FPC Band will be joining me at FSU, and getting going on Organic 2. But at the same time, no one actually likes school…so ya.

I’ve been practicing Clarinet for my audition, along with the mellophone, as I’m allowed to be evaluated on both. I’m pretty certain mellophone will crash and burn though, and Clarinet will save the day. Joy. Not.

Anyways, the new year is just around the corner, and after getting my 5 on the IB Chemistry HL test this past May, I now have 100% Bright Futures. Hip-Hip-Hooray!!!

So, this semester is going to be a lot different from the fall. First off, no more Chiefs. Actually, I’m not even in a band this semester. It was a very difficult choice, a very, very difficult choice. I’m taking too many hours this semester, and it would’ve been a bit too much to throw band on top of all that as well.

I compiled a bowling team for intramurals, we’re called “The Gutterball Alliance”; basically, because I have an average of 140, and my 4 team mates…they have an average of 50 each. Ya, it’s sad, but it should be fun!

On top of all this, I’ve been going to the Leach Center on campus on weekends (that’s our gym for those of you who don’t know). It’s cool, I get to run on treadmills (if that’s who it’s spelled), and they are sooooooo much fun. The Leach Center has so much stuff, from every piece of equipment, an olympic sized swimming pool, to an indoor track and racquet ball courts (6 in fact, all indoor). I’ve gotten my friend Myriam to play racquet ball with me, so I’m not sitting alone when I play

Anyways, that’s about it for now. I need to study for my Organic Chemistry Quiz that’s coming up in an hour, ’til next time!

So, we leave for Clemson, South Carolina tomorrow for the football game. It’s supposedly going to be around 40 degrees during the game on Saturday. That is not going to be fun to march and play in…oh well. It’s a nine hour bus ride up to our hotel, which isn’t even in Clemson. Our director said that we would be practicing at a nearby highschool before hand, since they have this need to work us to death, haha. I guess I’m looking forward to it. I’m going to sit with my friend Kelsey on the bus, and I’m rooming with her, and my friends Teresa and Molly. I hope it won’t be too bad.

Because we have November 11th (Veteran’s Day) off next Wednesday, there are no labs next week. It has been…like 9 weeks since I’ve gotten a break from lab…crazy, huh? I’m not going to know what to do with myself, ohhh welll. It’s a nice birthday present I guess

I’m going to try and take more pictures so I can put more up on here. In the meantime, look at this beautiful colored pencil drawing of the Sunset Moth I just finished a few days ago!!

     I had a canker sore all week, since last Thursday actually, and it had been really hard to eat up until a few days ago. One morning, it took me 45 minutes to eat half a pop-tart. It was terrible.

     I’m not sure why, but recently, I’ve been  bit more irritable when it comes to my roommate. There’s just little things that bother me a bunch more than they used to. For example, she flosses right up next to the mirror, so food is all over it. She doesn’t wash her hands after using the bathroom, she sleeps through all her classes at least 2-3 days a week, and she never uses headphones when watching movies or tv shows on her computer. She always complains how tired she is, yet she continuously goes out on week nights until 2-3am…I don’t get it. I’m trying to get used to things, I just ignore them, and mind my own business.

     Wednesday was Dr. Plack’s, one of my band directors, 40th Birthday. As a joke (or in all seriousness), all the section leaders told their sections to wear all black to practice that day, for we were “mourning the death of his youth” Unfortunately, he wasn’t there to receive our sentiments, but a video was taken and given to him so he didn’t miss out.

     I cleaned a bunch today since Rowan is coming to visit this weekend. Unfortunately, the community dorm vacuum was broken, so it was a bit difficult to clean my carpet…I managed. The guy at the front desk was like “Oh, sorry, the normal one is broken, but you can try this one.” It was a dinky little machine, but I took it anyways. I brought it up to my room, and turned it on. It was the loudest, scariest little beast I had ever heard! I thought it was eating my arm it was so loud, it was worse than a lawn mower. I didn’t use it. I just used a dust pan.

     The curve for Chemistry has shifted in such a way that I currently have a B- or B in the class (I’m not exactly sure). I’m really happy though, since it will be the first time since Sophomore year (in High School) that I had a grade other than a C in Chemistry.

     Last night, my friend Myriam and I went to the movies and saw “Public Enemies”. The one with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. It was really hard to follow at first, and I didn’t like it. As it progressed, the plot became clear but repetitive, and nothing seemed to be happening. I guess it was an alright movie, I wouldn’t buy it on DVD or anything.

     One cool thing though, was on the way there, we saw this bike locked in a tree. IN a tree, it was so funny. I guess the bike rack was filled up, haha.

     We ran through the dance routine one last time before practice ended yesterday, and one of the girls in my section stepped on my clarinet by accident and bent a key. I can basically only play about 20% of my notes now. Fortunately, a person who fixes clarinets for cheap is coming today after practice, so I’m gonna try and get her to fix it.

     Well, only one more day left til I get to come home to Palm Coast. I can’t wait! I’ve been waiting forever! Yay!

In Chemistry, I got a 100% on my first quiz, a 100% on my second quiz, and a 100% on my first lab. Woohoo!! Who wouldn’t jump for joy about that? I’m so happy, especially since it’s my major.

In Calculus, I think I missed a quiz because it was intentially kept a secret from those who don’t go to recertation, and I completed failed my first test because I had been really sick the week prior to it, felt like I was gonna throw up, and had a bleeding nose during the entire test. It was terrible.

Other than my awful start in Calculus, Chiefs is going well, and so is Campus Band. The grad student that plays oboe isn’t in Campus Band anymore since we didn’t actually need anymore oboes. So that means there are only seven Oboes now! Yay! Too many.

Humanities is okay too. I had to write a 3 page essay (easy) for it recently. It was a bit stressful since I had fallen behind due to being sick, but I managed to get it together.

ANTS. ANTS. ANTS!!!!! I’m sick of them. There are more. I get rid of brand new food. There are more. I spray them with poison. There are more. I HATE ants.

Yes, I know I’m running through everything pretty fast, but I figured I needed to get a bunch of you up to date on everything…

I’m coming home in a little less than 2 weeks!!! I’m so excited! I’m gonna be able to go to FPC’s homecoming game, and watch the band’s halftime show! Then, Rowan and I might be going to the homecoming dance that Saturday, or maybe go to the movies, and just be able to hang out with each other for more than just a few hours. It’s going to be so nice to see colors other than Garnet and Gold, haha, I’m kidding. But seriously, I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends and family when I come back.
